The line graph provides us with a detailed statistics on the changes in the price of commodities like fresh fruits and vegetable, sugar, and sweets, and carbonated drinks between 1978 and 2009 in USA. It also gives us a vivid account of the consumer versus price index during that period. There were some occasional fluctuations in the price of fruits and vegetables between the years 1979 and 2009. However, there has also been a period of steady rise in the price of these commodities from 1999 to 2008. On the contrary, the other two items namely, the sugar and sweets, and carbonated drinks showed the same pattern. There was a gradual increase in price of these two items from 1987 to almost 1999. Nevertheless, after 1999 there had been some periodic dips in the trend. The consumer-price index has also shown mostly steady growth especially from 1984 to 2008. The only major change happened after the year 1982, when there was a sharp rise in the curve. As an overall change, it is evident that the price range of fruits and vegetables was the significantly higher than the other commodities. So quite unsurprisingly, the highest price attained by the fruits and vegetables was nearly 325 in the year 2009. The other items remained under the consumer-price index range throughout the period.
