The two pie charts compare the amount spent on seven different categories by US residents in two different years 1966 and 1996. The data is calibrated in percentage. Overall, expenses on cars, restaurants, and computers were found a positive trend. However, the remaining items showed a decreased value in the given period. It is clear that American citizens spent most of their earnings on food and cars. To give a clear picture, it is shown in the chart that in the year 1966 the expenses for food is 44%, while in 1996 they decreased to 14%. The second highest expense is made on petrol at 10%, which is decreased to 8% in the year 1996. Followed by this the other two categories furniture and books also found a downfall in purchase during the given period. On the other hand, the drastic change in expenses was found in cars, restaurants, and computers. Where compared with 1966 and 1996 the expenses on cars is increased to 45%. Although, the other two categories also found only one percent increase in the expenses.
