Overall, the literacy levels in India had an upward trend. Both urban-males and urban-females literacy levels were higher than those of rural males and females. In terms of male, in urban regions, males had higher literacy levels than in rural areas. Men's literacy levels in rural-regions rose significantly from 57. 80 to 77. 15 in the years given, While the literate rates of urban males increased steadily from 81. 09 to 88. 71 in the years 2013, 2015 and 2017 respectively.
