The figure shows demographic trends in Scotland RKG8
The line graph illustrates the rates of birth, population growth, and death from 1940 to 2020 in Scotland. In general, the death rate is projected to continue increasing in the future.
In the first two decades, the death proportion experienced a dramatic decrease from 1. 5% to slightly under 0. 5%, then remained fairly stable until 1980. Meanwhile, in the same period, the birth rate also showed a sharp decline to 1%. In contrast, though the percentage of population growth dropped slightly in 1940, in 1950 it experienced a significant rise of around one per cent in 1950.
The population growth rate, however, fell gradually to zero before 2010, while the death percentage in Scotland stayed nearly stable in thirty years, before rising slowly to above 1. 5% and it is expected to grow in the time ahead. In addition, the rate of birth fluctuated slightly from 1970 to 2000 and then stayed constant until 2020.
