The diagram demonstrates the process of manufacturing glass plates and glass bottles.
In general, both processes involve three stages, and the same beginning stage. However, workers would take different routes if they want to produce different final products.
At the first step, limestone, sand and soda are combined in a furnace, whose temperature is at approximately 1700 Celsius. These materials are heated to melt and become molten glass. The molten glass, subsequently, flows into two pipes to form glass plates or glass bottles. To manufacture the former, the molten glass continues flowing into the left pipe in the diagram, which will then be held in a barrel. At the third stage, it is flattened by rollers, which creates the glass plates. Regarding making glass bottles, when the molten glass comes out of the pipe, the compressed air will help build the shape of bottles. After cooling down, the products are taken out.
