The flow chart illustrates ways to produce ethanol using corn as the first material. On the whole, the process for making ethanol comprises of nine steps, beginning with corns and culminating in the delivery to gas stations.
At the first and second stages, corns are harvested and stored together in warehouses. Powder formed by the machine grinding corns at the third stage is added water to supply a mixture for the next stage. The next step is when this mixture is cooked for 4 hours following by 4 - hour fermenting stage. After that, the mixture is separated into liquid and solid by – product, which is removed out of the process. By this stage, purification of the liquid lasting for 5 hours results in purified ethanol formed. The penultimate and final steps involve storing ethanol and transport this fuel to gas stations.
