The charts show the average velocity of traffic over a fifty-year period with a forecast for the future and the amount of urban areas by country.
It is clear that the general trend for the speed is to increase and then decrease. For example, in France, the speed was 60kph and increased to 86 kph in 1990. After that, it declined to 68 kph and is estimated to tail off at 52 kph in 2020. Similarly, in USA, the speed was 48 kph, increased to 57 kph and then decreased to 43 kph. UK and Rassia have a similar run, both reached the peak of 56kph and 72 kph respectivwly and then levelled off to 47 kph and 59 kph respectively. Comparablely in Canada, it inclined to 73kph and decreased to 64kph.
Chile remained stably at around 51 kph and for Italy, Brazil and Spain, they levelled up at 58, 57 and 61 respectively. As for the number of urban zones for all countries, it increasd by roughly 4 times the amount in 1970 with the exception of Russia which was halved to 3200. Overall, there is no connection between the speed of the city traffic and the number of urban areas
