The column graph illustrates the frequency with which the US population had meals in fast food restaurants in 2003, 2006 and 2016. The frequency of eating has been divided into 6 categories: every day, several times a week, once a week, once or twice a month, a few times a year and never. All the figures have been given in percentages.
Overall, we can observe the largest proportion of population eats fast food once a week or once or twice a month. More than 30% people ate fast food once a week in 2003 and 2006. This percentage decreased to 27% (approximately) by 2016. Around 30% people in 2003 and 25% people in 2006 consumed fast food once or twice a month. This percentage increased from 25% to almost 35% in 2016.
The percentage of population which consumed fast food several times a week remained within the 15-20% range. Similarly, the proportion eating fast food few times a year was constant around the 15% mark. However, the proportion of citizens who never ate fast food or ate it every day was less than 5% for all the three years.
