The chart compares the percentages of British students in England who were capable of speaking other languages apart from English over the period of 10 years (2000 and 2010). The is clearly evident that in the year 2010, Spanish was the most spoken foreign language by the British students at the university with 30% in number. After a decade, in 2010, the percentage increased by 5% Apart from Spanish, German and French were other two languages spoken by the students. However, the percentage was comparitively lower than Spanish in both the years. In the year 2000, 20% of the students did not speak any other foreign language. However, the percentage decreased by 10% in the year 2010. The perctage of students who spoke another language was 15% in the year 2000 while it increased by 5% after a decade. Similarily, the students who could speak two or more languages increased from 10 to 15% in 2010. Overall 80% of the students at the university knew other languages apart from English which increased over the 10 year period leaving only 10% of the students monolingual.
