The given illustrates, compares the illiteracy rates between men and women in six regions of the world in 2000. Overall, male illiteracy rates experienced a downward trend, while, female showed upward trend. Both sexes’ illiteracy percentages had some fluctuations. Although, women illiteracy proportion were quite low in the first, but it was grown up substantially at the end of the period. As we observed in the graph, in the developed countries female illiteracy percentage was very nil, 1-2% be more precise. Then it slightly up lifted to 10% in Latin America and Caribbean, and in East Asia and Oceania we can see illiteracy in 20% in women category. The highest percentage of uneducated female was almost 55% in South Asia. A similar percentages were consists of 49% and 52% in two provinces, those were Sub-Saharan Africa and Arab States. On the contrary, illiteracy rates were quite lower in men rather women. The highest rate of un educated men could be found in South Asia about 35%, and the next two countries Arab States as well as Sub-Sahara Africa there were equivalent proportions of not educated people 49% and 53%. However, the least illiteracy rate of male was reported just 1-2% in developed countries. and in East Asia and Oceania occupied second place in lowest illiteracy percentage about just 8%. Finally, in Latin America had around 10% unenlightened males.
