The bar chart illustrates the data of homes built each year in Derby and Nottingham from 2000 to 2009. Overall, Derby had a dramatic and continuous rise while the figures of Nottingham showed a sharp  fluctuation during the time frame. According to the bar graph, there were only 50 houses built in Nottingham in 2000 while the number in Derby was around 45. After two years, this trend has changed and more houses were built in Derby than Nottingham. Until 2005, the trend remained mostly the same and in 2005, more than 100 homes had been built in Derby while fewer than80 were in Nottingham. In 2007, an opposite trend was shown on the chart, about 190 homes were built in Nottingham compared to 110 single homes in Derby. In 2009, more than 240 homes were built in Derby while 250 were in Nottingham. Interestingly, over time the number of houses built in Derby is almost growing each year while the graph shows some anomalies in Nottingham with fewer houses being built than Derby, with the exception of the year 2000, 2001 and 2007.
