The bar chart highlights the proportion of households owning and renting accommodation in England and Wales from 1918 to 2011. In general, it can be seen that the percentage of household in rented accommodation was upward trends while the amount of households in owned accommodation was downward trends over the period in question. In addition, families which was owned and rented accommodation the same level in 1971. Looking at the details, if we look at the percentage of households that owned accommodation in 1918, it was well under 20%. In terms of the amount of owning accommodation by households, it remained stable around 32% between 1939 and 1953. Subsequently, the figure for owned accommodation registered a significant rise and ended at just under 50% in 2011. With regard to households in rented accommodation began at about 80%, and then it went up slightly to well under 70% in 1939and stayed constant until 1953. The proportion of households renting accommodation saw a considerably decrease, from just under 70% to about 31% between 1961 and 2001. In 2011, the rental rate by households was around 31%.
