The bar chart gives information about the number of car journeys into the city centre made by residents and non-residents. Summarise the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The chart provides data about the amount of car journeys in the city centre which was done by residents and non-residents during the 9 years. Overall, it can be deduced from that chart that the number of residents who traveled by car show a significant decrease in the given period whereas non-residents experienced a fluctuation. The number of travels declined substantially in the final year owing to closed roads. As it was presented, the number of journeys into the city centre by residents accounted for around 10000 from 1996 to 1999. Although non-residents started at 5000 journeys per day, the amount of travels were increased to nearly 8000 and remained relatively stable between 1990 and 2002. In this period, parking meters were introduced into the city centre. It could be seen that the amount of journeys saw a substantial drop each after 2000 due to the fact that Westage Street and Park Lane were closed to traffic. Residents and non-residents traveled 4000 and 6000 respectively in 2005.
