It is clear that the number of households in rented accommodation is higheraccommodation higher than homeowners, while an opposite trend was observed over the final 30 years. Looking at the chart in more detail, families renting accommodation accounted for about 80%, three times higher than owning accommodation in 1918. The figure decreased sharply to 50% in 1917 and stayed stable for 14in 14 years between 1939 and 1953. In contrast, the percentage of rented households TOBE + ADJ? ? ? ? more than doubled from about 25% to 50%.
