The line graph gives information about how much fish and three other types of meat was consumed by an European over the course of 25 years. In general, during the period beef and lamb consumption declined significantly with some ups and downs, while the opposite was true for chicken. Moreover, fish remained the least liked meat for 25-year period. The index for beef, which accounted for about 220 grams in the beginning, fluctuated a great deal, reaching a high of roughly 250grams, falling to a low of 100 grams in 2004. Similarly, the proportion of lamb fell to just over 50 grams at the end, a reduction of 100 grams, from what it was in 1979. Although there was a long term stability in the amount of consumed fish at around 50 grams, the same index for chicken rose considerably with the figure rising by 250 grams in 2004.
