Concrete is one of the most popular materials in the construction world, whether it’s being used for building houses or used to build pavements. This practical piece of material is made from cement. Our journey to acquire concrete and the cement production process start with limestone and clay being crushed via a crusher and made into a powder; after that the powder goes through a mixer and then a rotating heater; eventually the heated powder will be poured on a grinder and after the grinding process we have cement that can be stored in bags and be ready for shipping.
At this point the cement arrives to the factories which make concrete; the production line only needs 4 crucial materials; cement, water, sand and gravel. 50 percent of this combination is made from small stones also known as gravel, the other 50 percent is made from 25 percent sand and 15 and 10 percent cement and water respectively. After combination the mixture is then poured into a concrete mixer, which twirls the substance and after some time the concrete is made and is ready to use.
Overall the process of making cement needs more equipment compared to the concrete producing procedure and also requires more materials. However, both of them are very similar in being time consuming processes but given the many applications that cement and concrete have, it is all worth the trouble.
