below shows how electricity is generated in a hydroelectric power station. oWlV
This diagram explains about the process of producing the electricity in a hydroelectric power station. The process is explained in three different steps. Firstly, with the help of a dam, water is collected in a high-level reservoir from the river. Between the dam and the power station, the important process of the flow of water is conducted. The dams are opened during daytime for the water to flow to generate electricity. While, the water is pumped back to the high- level reservoir at night. After this stage, the water is pumped to the power station, where the actual process of electricity is executed. The flow of water is pumped to reversible turbines to operate the generator during day time. While during night, water is pumped back to the high-level reservoir. In the mean-time, there is a low level reservoir as well, from where water is pumped to the turbines during night and the water used up by turbines is pumped back to the low-level reservoir. In the final stage, the electricity generated in the power station, is transported to the power lines and national grid respectively.
