The graph describes the shifts in how much ( pizza, hamburger, fish and chips) young Australians consumed over 45 years starting from 1975.
It is obvious that there were significant changes in the consumption of junk food among Australian teenagers. While pizza and hamburgers saw an upward trend in consumption, the amount of fish and chips consumed declined substantially over the shown period.
In 1975, fish and chips registered the highest consumption at 100 times eaten per year among three types of fast food, while pizza and hamburgers were consumed about 5 and 10 times eaten respectively. Over the ten following years, the consumption of pizza and hamburgers both witnessed an upward trend: hamburgers rocketed to over 80 times eaten, pizza rose quite consistently to approximately 40 times eaten. However, a noticeable fluctuation was seen in fish and chips before it fell to 80 times eaten at the end of 1985.
From 1990 to 2000, the consumption of hamburgers saw a growthrate and peaked at 100 times eaten. The figure for pizza in 1995 nearly doubled that in 1985 and remained stable to the end of the period. By contrast, the consumption of fish and chips experienced a downward trend, dropped roughly to just under 40 times in 2000.
