The passage and lecture are arguing over some beliefs about the elephants. The author lists three surprising beliefs about the elephants. On the contrary, the lecturer casts doubt on these beliefs and she refuses these beliefs one by one. Firstly, it is said on the passage that old elephants are aware about their deaths' time and leave the herd.
