The reading passage claims that as the decline or extinction of many frog species have detrimental effects on humans, they should be protected from being extinct, and provides three methods to solve the problem. The lecturer, meanwhile, asserts that none of the recommended solutions are practical for frog population and then refutes each of the author's reasons. To begin with, the reading statement declares that pesticides are the reason that harms the frogs and these chemicals attack the nervous system of the frogs resulting to severe breathing problems. Moreover, there should be some strict laws to prohibit the farmers of using these pesticides near frog population. On the other hand, the lecturer believes that reducing the pesticides is not economically practical for most of the farmers and if there is a law in this case, it will definitely have a negative impact on the farmers because of the low yield in comparison to other farmers. Second, although the reading passage posits that the main reason that affect the decrease in frog population is a fungus with a deadly effect, the lecturer makes the argument that this claim should be studied individually to each frog and scientists have to capture all new generations to make this investigation convincing, so this would be pretty expensive to be carried out. Finally, in contrast to reading passage claiming that because the natural habitats of the frogs are threatened, these animals are in decline and human activities like excessive water use or draining of wetlands caused their habitats to be extinct, the lecturer disagrees and contends that the main reason for water land disappearance is the global warming.
