Smartphones have long played an essential role in every part of life. Thanks to its specific features, it widens the door for English learners. In light of that, this study investigates the use of smartphones in the English learning of students at Thu Dau Mot University. A questionnaire, which is designed on the Google Form platform, contains 11 questions surrounding how students use their smartphones in their English learning process and clarifying disadvantages in the use of smartphones for learning English. The respondents from 100 participants show that they usually learn English by listening to podcasts, watching videos and sharing lessons, notes in association with some other applications. Besides, some disadvantages are figured out. Therefore, this study also proposes some possible techniques or small steps to optimize the use of smartphones in English learning.
