The graph below shows relative price changes for fresh fruits and vegetables, sugars and sweets, and carbonated drinks between 1978 and 2009.

The line graph llustrates fluctuations in price of 3 different food product group and also the relationship between those versus the consumer price index during 1979 to 2009. Overall, it can be clearly seen that there is a positive trend of prices through out the years. All 3 product prices starts off closely to the consumer-price index, then in year 1987, those group begins to diverge with fruits and vegetables being the most expensive while carbonated drinks being the least.
