The figures given above illustrate the working of a wave-energy machine, and to decide the most suitable location for its installation. According to the first figure, the wave-energy machine is installed in a water body, with the rise in the water level, the airflow causes the turbine to rotate as the air passes from the lower chamber to the upper chamber where the turbine is located. Although water isn't the only medium to cause the turbine to rotate, natural air coming from the upper chamber also helps in the rotation of the turbine. Thus this process helps in the generation of electricity in an efficient way. On the other hand, the second figure illustrates a comparison of the most suitable position to install the machine. If the machine is installed near the shore, where there are smaller waves than usual it would cost lesser in terms of money but would give low output as well. Similarly, if the machine is installed in deep water, the output would be higher resulting in larger waves and also a higher cost of installation. To conclude, there are pros and cons to the installation of wave energy machines and needs careful planning to successfully do so.
