The pie charts below illustrate the average proportion of Sodium, Saturated Fats, and Added Sugars in typical meals namely Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, and Snacks consumed in the United States of America. Overall, it is evident that dinner accounted for larger proportions of Sodium and Saturated fats whereas Snacks accounted for higher proportions of Added Sugar. Firstly, forty-three percent of Sodium and 37% of saturated fats are used in preparing dinner which is considered to be higher whereas, lunch was accounted for 29% and 26% respectively. It is observed that levels of Sodium in Breakfast and Snacks were similar(14%). However, Saturated fat is most used in Snacks(21%) when compared to Breakfast(16%) On the other hand, a larger proportion of sugar is added to prepare snacks which accounted for 42% followed by dinner with 23%. It is lucid that, usage of sugar in Breakfast and lunch is almost similar accounted for less than 20%
