The chart illustrates the number of female US residents who browsed the web within the period of 2000 and 2001.
Overall, as is to be expected in this tech-savy generation, there were more women in their teens who spent their time using the internet than the older female adults in the year 2000. This followed a similar trend in the year 2001. However, there was a noticeable increase in the internet usage for all ages during the year 2001 which made the trend slightly less pronounced.
With regards to the year 2000, just above 90% of women living in the US has browsed the internet in some way. This proportion continued to slightly drop as their age increased with a difference of approximately 22% within the age brackets of 12-15 up to 46-55. In contrast, female adults aged between 56-65 years old plummeted to less than half of the population while the females aged 65 and above made up only a fifth of the total number.
In the year 2001, there was a significant rise in the female US residents using the internet for varied purposes as evidenced by female teenagers and adults in their 40s now making up an average of 80% of the total population. Clearly, there has been a rise in the demand after a year since there has been a peak of usage in female teens aged 16-18 which reached a 100%. Also, there was an increase of 10% for both older adults in their 50s and 60s. This just shows how they found the internet to be popular and important in their daily lives
