The bar chart illustrates the percentage of reasons why people befriend and unfriend connections on a renowned social media site. In general there is a significant difference between percentages of reasonings behind befriending a connection. The difference can be seen in the contrast percentage of knowing in real life and mutual friends reason towards business networks, attractiveness, and increasing friend count. On the contrary, there is only a considerable amount of percentage gap in various motivations to unfriend connections. Most people agreed to befriend a connection for the reason of knowing them in real life and mutual friends, with approximately 80% and 58% agreement respectively. However, reasonings which include business networks lay low with only around 9%, attractiveness about 8%, and increasing friend count at last place with approximately 7%. In terms of unfriending a connection, offensive comments with about 56% is the main reason and lack of interaction with around 20% is the least chosen reason to unfriend. Second from the bottom, depressing comments, with a slight difference compared to the least supported reason, around 22%. In addition, between the three reasons mentioned before lies two other reasons: don’t know well around 43% and are trying to sell something around 38%.
