The two maps illustrate the changes of a village named Ryemouth between 1995 and today. Overall, there are considerable changes at this place that many facilities such as a golf course, a tennis court and car parking have been added butand a cafe remains unchanged. In 1995, there was a large farmland in the northeast, and there was a forest park to the south of it. There was a residential area beside the road which acrossed the east and west of the village. In the south along the sea, there was a shop and fish market. On the other side of the road, there was a small hotel at the T-junction in the village’s east side. There was also a fishing port on the beach. At present, the village is totally different from it was in the past. In the northeast, where the farmland and the park once located, has been constructed into a complex of a golf course and tennis courts. The road acrossing the village has been widened to the west side near the residential area. There also appears to be more housing. The shop in the past has turned into a restaurant now, and it is the same as the fish market, which has been replaced by apartments. As can be seen clearly, the fishing port has disappeared and a new parking lot has been added next to the hotel. The cafe is standing still after all.
