Nowadays, old people prefer to live at retirement home with people of their own age rather than with family. Is this a positive or negative development 9lWkw
The concept of nuclear families is trending nowadays which had lead to significant increase in number of retirement homes for old aged people. While some may think that this is negative development, I personally think that this is the need of the hour. This essay will highlight the positive impact and necessities of old aged people living in retirement home with people of their own age rather than with their own family. Youngsters, nowadays, often find it difficult to spare time for their old parents as they are always outdoors due to increased cut-throat competition and work load. These old people left alone at home get bored and have nothing to spend their time which takes toll on their mental health. Although they may have access to television or all other sorts of recreational activities, they have no one to talk or share things with. This is where old age home comes at rescue, these elderly people can meet many people of their own age and spend some quality time. For instance, there are several activities and programs arranged specially for entertainment of elderly people. Retirement homes are also well equipped with staff and medical facilities which takes care of elderly people. If any emergency occurs then they could have easy and quick access to medical treatment which is very crucial at such age. The family members could always visit and spend time with their parents and grandparents at retirement homes. In a nutshell, the choice of living in retirement homes is beneficial to both old aged people and their family members to lead happy life.
