Thus the project of sending humans to Mars would require solving an array of problems the Moon missions did not have to face. 850Yx
The lecturer disputed the ideas that it a mission to mars would be impossible because of its long distance away from earth. He asserts that difficulties facing this mission could be resolved through several means. First, The lecturer argues that hydroponic cultivation can overcome the difficulties of carrying large amount of food in the trip. The author claims that it is impossible to carry large amount of food which is needed for the trip. However, the lecturer notes that through hydroponic cultivation, it is possible to grow food in water instead of soil, Therefore, this technique save space and will minimize the amount of food needed on the trip. , Moreover, plants will take carbon dioxide in the air and release oxygen which is needed for breathing. Second, through exercise and calcium and vitamin D intake it is possible to overcome the negative effect of zero gravity on the health of astronauts. The author claims that a long trip to Mars would cause atrophy to muscle to muscles and bones. Again, the lecturer contends, that with regular exercise and with Calcium and vitamin D intake, it is possible to overcome the negative effect of zero gravity on Mars even it the trip is too long. Finally, the lecturer states that damaging effect of radiation is true only when the sun is active. Therefore, a detector could be place on the spaceship to detect when is the sun is active. Having a detector on the spaceship would allow scientists to build a small shielded compartment for astronauts to stay in when the sun is active. Thus, this will not increase its weight.
