The graph below shows the population figures for different types of turtles in India from 1980 to 2012 7aLN2
The line graph shows the number of turtles recorded in India from 1980 to 2012 classified into various types. As seen in the graph, there are 4 types of turtles that are taken into consideration. While the Olive Ridley turtles seem to increase in number, the Green turtles show a small dip in figures. The Leatherback turtles on the other hand, show a drastic fall in numbers while, overall numbers stay constant over the period of time. The Olive Ridley turtles start off at a 100 of them in 1980 just like the other turtles shown in the graph. Although, after this they show a generally upward trend finishing off at just shy of 130 in 2012. The Leatherback turtles on the other hand, start off promisingly peaking at close to 120 in 1987. Then, they just seem to drop in numbers until they reach about 60 in 2012. Similarly, the Green turtles also show a slight increase in numbers initially touching almost 110 in 1984. After this though, they also decrease, but not as drastically as the Leatherback turtles. They end up at about 90 in 2012. The overall numbers of all the turtles vary a little bit over the years, but the troughs and crests seem to balance each other as seen in the graph. They finish at just shy of 110 in 2012.
