The diagram below shows how ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) works. 9LQoX
The diagram illustrates the operation of ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC). Overall, this system generates electricity and drinking water using solar heat and seawater as input materials. The design of this OTCE plant includes 2 chambers connected by a system of pipes. Seawater at 29 degrees Celsius on the surface is pumped into the evaporation chamber, being heated on road by solar energy. In the evaporation chamber, heated water is divided into two parts, of which steam is led to a pipe designed above to drive the turbine to generate electricity. The rest of the water sinks to the tank set up below to use for the next stage. Steam of water after driving the turbine is led through a pipe to the condensing chamber as input material. Cold seawater at over 500 meters depth and water of the previous stage is pumped to a pipe covering the condensing chamber that functions as a cooling system to facilitate the condensation. The resulting product of this stage is drinking water while the wastewater is discharged into the sea.
