The chart compares the proportion of Australian boys and girls who took part in extra-curricular sports activities in 2014. Overall, it is clear that boys and girls had different preferences for sports activities after school hours. Most boys preferred to play football while netball could be referred as girls’ most favorite pastime. Swimming was quite a popular sports activity among girls at 16% compared to boys with 13%. A minority of school children in Australia preferred to play basketball with about 8% and 6% in turn. Football was the most common option for boys with 20%, whereas very few girls nearly 3% played it. In contrast, more girls participated in netball with 18 %, but only 2% of boys took interest in it.
